Excellent tent for families

Got home at 11:30 one night to find a package with this tent at my front door. Glad it arrived a day early, as I had performed hasty tent pole surgery on my 25-year-old Eureka and didn’t know if it would hold. Left earrrrr-ly the next morning for a Scout camp out. Tossed this in the truck, too, thinking I could figure it out in the field.

Good gear, reasonable price.

Less that 9 lbs makes it a functional tent to hike with when hiking with the entire family at a very reasonable price. I could have spent more money & got a lighter tent but packing out a family of four can get pricey and this is a very nice option.

Best Backpacking tent for the money

Nice redesign of the standard Alps Mountaineering tent. The crossbar and roof vents are a nice touch. It doesn’t give you the full “rectangle effect” of something like the REI quarter or half dome but it does make a difference. Good for 2-3 adults or 3 youths. This tent is a little on the heavy side because they don’t use a lot of mesh for ventilation. Also, the floor material is twice as thick as most tents so you can get away with not buying the footprint.

Great tent. Lightweight and Quick and Easy to put up. You can fit 2 small cots, like the Mountain Trails Base Camp Cot, but not standard cots. We had snow and ice throughout our stay in the mountains, and no leaks. We had good sleeping bags, no heater, and stayed comfortable. This is a short tent, so getting dressed can be a challenge, but that’s part of it. I am very pleased with my purchase of this tent!

I have now used this tent enough that I feel I can write a review. I have taken it on two short weekend trips, both of which involved no rain but pretty intense wind. I then took it on a week-long trip on the Green River in Utah that involved more intense wind and a little bit of rain. The tent held up well–no leaks, no problems with the rain.

Great tent

Easily set up by my preteens and perfect size! Ventilation is perfect but perfectly protected from the rain. We’ve owned several tents this size but this is our favorite!

This tent survived 6 straight days of off and on rain in Canyonlands and Arches National parks, plus two Utah state parks. Held up to very gusty winds, heavy rains, and one kick butt thunderstorm. No leaks and kept us warm at night.

Very satisfied.

This is a solid tent. Haven’t had it in the rain yet, but it’s built well, is breathable, and has a couple plastic.windows.that you can look out of when the rain fly is on. Pretty cool feature.

Easy Setup, Great Features, ALPS Quality & Warranty

Well made and with some great features, this is a great tent for tossing into the back of the car and using for any duration of non-backpacking camping (or perhaps for short hikes and packing it in). It was easy to setup the very first time, and it sure provides a lot more space than our old two person ALPS did. For me, the mark of a really good tent is one that is easy and just does what it is supposed to do without my having to baby it or focus on it. This is definitely a set and forget, and then enjoy the woods kind of a tent.
